Text: Hi Mary ,
Checked out your site a little . I have most info you have but a few
dates are different.
Pretty sure Mehitable Garnsey is "not" dau. of John Garnsey and
Elizabeth Titus as Mehitable was born 1673 and Elizabeth Titus was
born
1691 , now I'm pretty sure daughter can't be younger than mother.
1. Elizabeth Titus b. 1691 m. 05 Jun 1717 John Garnzey Jr. Rehoboth VR
p. 149
2. Elizabeth Garnzey , wife of John d. 11 Apr 1714 Rehoboth VR (Must
be
John Sr see below)
3. John Garnzey , Sr., & Sarah Titus m. 16 Aug 1716 Rehoboth VR
4. John Garnzey d. 31 Mar 1722 VR
Also Mehitable Garnsey Horton gave birth to son Thomas 1690 . Also
have
Abstracts of Probate records of Bristol Co. with further evidence
which
I'll send later. These were sent to me on line by Linda Mathew. As
soon
as I find where I stashed it in my files I'll forward the whole thing.
Let me go over what I have and see what I can find . Alot of it isn't
proven by me but I'll send where I got it from. I've only been at this
a
few months and have not bought any software yet. Wasn't sure what
would
be best for me . I really like the way yours works , from the short
time
I had to spend there tonight . What do you use and is it an easy
format.
Only been on a computer since mid-Oct 1998 so I'm not real good yet.
<grin>
I can type up what I have and e-mail it to you if that is okay ? I'll
do it a bit at a time.

Abstracts of Bristol County, Massachusetts, Probate Records,
by H. L
Peter
Rounds does not have any probate records from John Horton. The
abstracts
end
with 1762, so it could be that John died after that date. In your
message,
you said that John died 15 Oct 1742, but the Rehoboth vital records
(transcribed by James N. Arnold) say that it was his wife Mehitable
who died
15 Oct 1742. I could not find a marriage record for John and
Mehitable in
Rehoboth, but they might have married in Swansea, or the marriage may
not
have
been recorded. I have a CD-ROM of Bristol County vital records up to
1850,
but Swansea is not on the CD-ROM because a transcription of that
town's
records was published recently and is still under copyright.
The Abstracts of Bristol County Probate Records does have
records
pertaining
to Mehitable's father (vol. 1, p. 85):

Vol. 1, p. 256:

You asked about John Garnsey and Elizabeth Titus. There is a
marriage record
in Rehoboth (p. 149): John Garnzey, Jr., and Elizabeth Titus, both of
Rehoboth, m. 5 Jun 1717. This must be the marriage record of
Mehitable's
brother John. Children of John and Elizabeth, recorded in Rehoboth:

John, b. 4 Jan 1719/20
Oliver, b. 27 Sep 1722
Elizabeth, b. 23 Apr 1723
Solomon, b. 15 Oct 1727
Mary, b. 22 Feb 1731
Sarah, b. 15 May 1735
The John whose probate records I have just quoted also had a
wife
Elizabeth,
but I cannot find a marriage record, so I don't know her maiden name.
From
Rehoboth records:
Elizabeth Garnzey, wife of John, d. 11 Apr 1714.
John Garnzey, Sr., & Sarah Titus, both of Rehoboth, m. 16 Aug 1716.
John Garnzey, died 31 Mar 1722.
I hope that this helps and doesn't just create more confusion.
